Pre-Natal Lactation Visit
The pre-natal period is the best time to learn the basics and establish your breastfeeding goals. Whether this will be your first time breastfeeding, or things didn’t go quite how you expected them before. This is a great time to review any questions or concerns you may have. Sessions are tailored to the individual and a questionnaire will be distributed beforehand. I will spend 1-2 hours with you and your support people, depending on your requirements.
Postpartum Lactation Support
The immediate postpartum period can feel overwhelming at the best of times. I aim to offer a calm reassurance and steady support to meet you where you are. Feeling overwhelmed? Pain? Trouble latching? Engorged? Clogged ducts? Mastitis? Low supply or weight concerns? The list goes on! This is the appointment for you. I will observe, assess and provide hands-on assistance during a feeding session, take a pre and post feed weight to calculate milk transfer, as well as discuss any specific concerns you have. A feeding and care plan will be discussed and sent to you within 24 hours to provide you with actionable steps to move forward. Two weeks of messaging on a HIPAA compliant portal are included with each initial visit.
Older Infant Lactation Support
Older infant lactation concerns might include a nursing strike, biting, introducing solids, returning to work, bottle refusal, weaning - any concerns for infants aged 3+ months. These appointments include 1 week of follow-up messaging in a HIPAA compliant portal.
Initial Consult - Pre/Post Natal & Older Infant
Initial consults are $200. This includes 60-90 minutes of dedicated attention to discuss and troubleshoot any concerns, as well as 2 weeks of follow up in a HIPAA complaint messaging portal.
Insurance Coverage
We are in the process of becoming in-network with some insurance providers. Until then, we will provide you with a Superbill after your visit to submit for reimbursement to your insurance company on request. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), most insurance companies are required to cover lactation services and supplies without a co-pay. I cannot guarantee that your insurance company will do so, but if you are having any issues this link provides some great resources to keep your insurance company accountable. The cost of your appointment is due at the time of booking.
Anything Else?
If there is anything else lactation related you are looking for guidance and support with, please reach out! This may include inducing lactation (otherwise known as adoptive lactation), tandem nursing or returning home from NICU or an extended hospital stay. If you are exclusively pumping, cup or tube feeding please select the appointment that corresponds with your baby’s age and complete the pre-visit questionnaire as normal. Marlu is an inclusive space and I invite people of any gender or sexual orientation to reach out as required. You will be invited to indicate your preferred pronouns and breast/chestfeeding language in the questionnaire.
Follow-up Appointments
Follow-up appointments are $175 and include 60 minutes of re-assessment or follow-up for existing or new concerns for existing clients.
